Finally

Finally
Finally
Finally

Back to my routine
On my bed with my pillows cushioned on my back
My Mac sitting on one pillow
Resting between my tummy and my upper legs
My two hands and fingers on my keyboard
As I typed my thoughts into words
Soon to be connected with all
Missing you for the last three weeks.

I am finally BACK to BLOGGING again !

Antique Antics – Someone is taking a break

Oldest thing I own?

This little photo I created.  It’s an oldie but a goodie.

It can be recycled, again and again, same message.

Whenever I am about to take a break, I will post it on WordPress.

What’s the oldest thing you own? (Toys, clothing, twinkies, Grecian urns: anything’s fair game.) Recount its history — from the object’s point of view.

Can someone please tell me …. ?

About

I am not a writer neither am I an avid reader so blogging my autobiography may be a challenge but this is something I want to do.

I have added a Facebook Page.  Please join me on my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/littleborneogirl and feel free to add your blog and stories there.

– quote littlebornegirl –

I have more or less written my life story of what needed to be told, not necessarily to the world but as an open journal hopefully for my children and future generations to come if they happen to stumble upon my story.

I found WordPress as a platform for my blog and as my children were not too interested to read my story, I mirrored a page on facebook https://www.facebook.com/littleborneogirl so that my family and friends know when a new story is posted.  It is their choice whether or not to click and find out more.

From past statistics, I realized that Facebook audience and WordPress audience are totally different.  In the case of my blog, WordPress readers are participative and encouraging.  I love the Likes and the Comments.  From my stats, I see a lot of visits generated from Facebook but hardly any Comments or Likes probably because they find it too troublesome having to fill out details or register to click the Like button.

My blog is now more than just my autobiography.  I did and still do a lot of random posts, general topics, food ideas and photos that came into my mind when I am ready to post.  My autobiography and my life story is the framework or the main dish of my blog and those other general random thoughts are the sides.

The topic of this post is

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME …..?

I asked this question because lately I became a little less motivated to write.  I could spend a couple of hours writing a post and thought, wow, I kind of like that story – example below.

Thank you dear readers for liking my post.  Greatly appreciated.

Now again, I could participate on a Weekly Photo Challenge and spent no more than ten to fifteen minutes to select some relevant photo to post and the number of likes I got from that ten to fifteen minutes work is amazing. It was almost effortless.  – example below.

Now back to the question,

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME …. ?

………. should I continue to write or should I just take it easy and let photographs take over?

Most of the time, I do enjoy what I wrote with passion but sometimes I do get a bit discouraged.  I know I am not a professional writer, neither do I want to admit I am a blogger but I still hope to get good traffic to my blog and readers who come back for more so I know I am not alone writing a diary in my room.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME ….. ?

Should it be

PICTURES or WORDS?

Please share with me your experiences and thoughts.
I can take it, harsh or soft.  Greatly appreciated.

-Sincerely yours, Little Borneo Girl-

I was told facebook are for oldies.

Are you too old to visit my little borneo girl facebook page?

I do not believe in having to pay to promote my page.

Please visit and LIKE my facebook page.

I am not selling anything, I am merely writing and sharing my random thoughts for everyone’s reading pleasure.  Why should I pay facebook to promote my page and my stories.  Are on the same wavelength?

I especially love it if fellow bloggers have facebook pages too so we can guest post.

Please support me on this cause.

Love is …………….. when you are thinking of that person all the time.

Love is ……………… being able to read each other by looking into each other’s eyes.

Love is …………….. when you open up your heart and the other person went inside and mess it up.

Love is ……………… sharing that last piece of cheesecake even though you wanted it so badly for yourself.

Love is …………….. taking off your jacket to keep her warm when you are feeling cold yourself.

Love is ……………. when the other person’s happiness is more important than your own.

Love is …………….. doing the little, little things naturally like putting toothpaste on her toothbrush without realizing it.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Love is ………………. adopting a dog together and loving it as a child between us (so true for childless couple).

Written from past experiences of falling in love for better or for worst.  Today, I can only say I have grown stronger and wiser after my heart had been ripped open not once, twice but more times and had it all messed up time and again.

Daily Prompt: Express Yourself

by michelle w. on October 24, 2013

Tell us about a time you couldn’t quite get your words or images to express what you wanted to express.  What do you think the barrier was?  For bonus points, try again. Photographers, artists, poets: show us EXPRESSION.

via Daily Prompt: Express Yourself.

I was going to tell you all that I am taking a break.

What better way to convey this message across than announcing it along with Daily Prompt.  A Bonus Point indeed !

Have I got my words or images to express what I wanted to express?

No vacation photos to show yet but perhaps colors to express the beauty of what is coming up next when I come back !

Time for another vacation

Borneo and its little Borneo Girl

Borneo

Borneo Topography.png

Topography of Borneo
Borneo (Indonesian: Kalimantan) is the third-largest island in the world and the largest island of Asia. At the geographic centre of Maritime Southeast Asia, in relation to major Indonesian islands, it is located north of Java, west of Sulawesi, and east of Sumatra.

The island is divided among three countries: Brunei and Malaysia on the north, and Indonesia to the south. Approximately 73% of the island is Indonesian territory.  In the north, the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak, along with the federal territory of Labuan, make up about 26% of the island. The sovereign state of Brunei, located on the north coast, comprises about 1% of Borneo’s land area.  Borneo is home to one of the oldest rainforests in the world.

– Sourced from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borneo

That is an introduction of Borneo where I came from.  Before I moved to New Zealand, I have never thought of calling myself a Borneo girl.  I am a Malaysian of Chinese heritage, born and bred in Kuching, the capital city of Sarawak (East Malaysia) in the island of Borneo.

Many foreigners know or have heard of Borneo (especially the older generation) but not many know Sarawak and that was when I started using Borneo to describe where I was came from.  I chose the name ‘littlegirlstory’ for my blog and to make it more authentic to my heritage, I named myself the Little Borneo Girl who writes her ‘littlegirlstory’.

Sarawak has more than 40 sub-ethnic groups, each with its own distinct language, culture and lifestyle.

Ethnic in Sarawak
Ethnic Percentage
Iban 29%
Chinese 24%
Malay 23%
Bidayuh 8%
Melanau 6%
Orang Ulu 5%
Others 5%

To a local, a Borneo girl is often thought of as a native of an ethnic tribe, where their ancestors live in longhouses as a big community.  I am not of any tribal heritage, I am a Chinese migrant, perhaps second generation Malaysian but I embraced the title ‘Little Borneo Girl’ to signify where I came from, the island of Borneo, home of the rainforests.

This is a photo of the real authentic Borneo girls with their fine traditional costume.

From autobiography to two pennies worth of thoughts

In less than 10 weeks, I completed writing my autobiography.  I thought I had lots of childhood memories but putting them in writing, there were only around 12 posts of a life that is half a century old.

In sharing my stories and creating this blog, I now have a follower for each year of my life.  I am too shy to type that number ??00?? but we can easily work out that magic number.  I do not know if this is an average number or am I yet to be discovered.  I never intended to start a blog initially as all I wanted was a platform to write my life story.  I am pretty pleased with my progress and although not actually looking for a wide audience, I am greatly appreciative of the connections made with like-minded bloggers, especially those who commented on my posts and encouraged me when I shared my darkest secret.  From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely thank all of you for giving me the encouragement to write and to share even the most personal story of my life here.

thank you

As my blog progressed, my stories have branched out from the true life story of one little Borneo girl to other little light-hearted posts as I wrote and shared my thoughts out loud.  I am just a lady, a mother and was a wife.  I am not a writer neither am I an avid reader.  I wrote my story the way I remembered it, the way I felt it and the way I saw it.  I hope my readers have enjoyed reading and will continue to follow my blog as I will now journey into the present where I will share my two pennies worth of thoughts and events happening around me.

And last but not least if you are my friend, fellow blogger, supportive follower or if you just happened to stumble upon this post, I would truly appreciate your comments or press and LIKE me (of course only if you seriously do).  This little action will keep my blog happy.  Thank you 🙂

Thank you very much.

postadayIf you notice this tag, I am now challenging myself to a Post A Day as I spend quite a fair bit of time on this new highly addictive hobby.
