Off to Wairakei for a hot soak

Yesterday, we took a trip out of town to Taupo,  the heart of the North Island of New Zealand, flanked by stunning mountain ranges, national parks, native forests and home to the largest fresh water lake in Australasia.  Once a while, for rejuvenation, we get out of the norm and see places around our beautiful country.

There are many hot pools in New Zealand and some are worth hours of driving (or flying) just for a nice relaxation soak.  Significant natural thermal springs; mud and silica waters found in geothermal areas have been used for hundreds of years by Maori for healing and wellness.

We started our journey a bit late around noon with a stop in Gordonton, a small rural town to stretch our legs.  We thought we were unlikely to find anything special here but we were wrong.   In the village, between the dairy and The Mandarin Tree you’ll find The Book…
