Food and wine at Waiheke

Ringgggggggg went the alarm clock. 7am Saturday 16 August 2014.

Too bad, I can’t sleep in this Saturday. We had planned for a car load of seven ladies including myself going to Waiheke island. A text on my cellphone told me one was sick so we ended up with six who went for the adventure. The weather was good and we had a great day of fun, food and wine.

Waiheke is renowned for its beautiful beaches and award-winning vineyards and restaurants. The trip is an hour’s ferry ride from Half Moon Bay, Auckland.

Our first stop was at Ostend Market.

The highlight was a sumptuous three course lunch and wine tasting at Peacock Sky Winery.

An outing is always fun with good company and good food.

Happy weekend everyone.

  1. This looked like very fun trip…for the food! Hungarian bread, that sounds interesting. It looks like something from Breadtop but I’m sure it tasted better. And look at that cake-dessert! All you ladies look very young 😀

      • Yes, Finland is a very nice place to visit, especially during Midsummer/ Summer sostice. When you are up in the north you have all night sun shine, low growing forrests and barely any human being around you, or east Finland with its over 80.000 Lakes 🙂

But then again, every country has its beautiful sights
