This is my homemade steam yam (or taro) cake (kuih) as we called it in Malaysia or Singapore. It is a popular snack made from yam pieces, dried prawns and rice flour topped with deep fried shallots, spring onions, chillis and dried prawns, preserved raddish (chai poh) and usually served with a chilli dipping sauce.
If you are adventurous enough and want to try making this Nyonya specialty, you could google search the recipe online. Yam Cake is known as ‘O Kuih’ in Hokkien.

A Word in Your Ear – A Word A Week Photograph Challenge – Round
I had spent hours searching my photo library for the last hours for something round and what could be more round than this round yam kuih sitting on a round white platter.
As mentioned since this post took up so much of time looking for something round (and a bonus it is edible), so deserves another share as an international food on Sunday Stills. Thank you for the opportunity to show off my round yam kuih yet again.
